Yoga for Beginners

“I’ve always wanted to try yoga, but I have no idea what I’m doing and don’t know where to begin.” If these words have crossed your lips, then you’ve come to the right place!

Let’s be honest: new people, unfamiliar words, and intimidating movements can keep many a beginner from ever stepping foot in a yoga studio. This can be a lot to navigate, especially when you’re in and amongst others who seem so comfortable with it it all.

WE’RE HERE TO CHANGE THAT!

Join Mark for this accessible, slow-paced, weekly yoga class to help you learn, understand, break down, build up, enjoy and embody the basics of yoga. No yoga experience or fancy yoga pants are necessary – you don’t even have to be “flexible” … this is an accessible class for anyone, any age, any fitness level, any BODY. Yes, even you!

Whether you’re curious, wanting to learn the basics before sampling our other classes, anxious about a new experience, or just want to get some questions answered and learn the subtleties of yoga poses and practices you’ve never had explained, Renkon’s Yoga for Beginners weekly practice is the class for you.

Come once, or come weekly; you’ll always learn something new – no class will ever be the same!

Each week, Mark will guide you through a yoga posture, practice, technique, or philosophy and then guide you through the opportunity to experience it within an accessible yoga practice, too. This weekly class is designed to demystify the magic of yoga and help you learn and build the foundations for a basic yoga practice in a safe and supportive environment where the only bad questions are those that go unasked.

Your Yoga for Beginners class will inspire and empower you with the knowledge and confidence with time to safely participate in a yoga practice just about anywhere. You’ll also have a solid level of knowledge about what yoga is (and what it isn’t) and have all of your questions answered to clear your head and put your heart at ease.

Mark is committed to ensuring you are comfortable, well-prepared, supported (mentally and physically), and making it fun too! Your Beginning Yoga classmates will become a community of close friends as you move through this learning journey together!

When it comes to feeling connected and comfortable, our community-focused yoga studio rooted in the power of human connection is the place to be.

You don’t have to be extra fit, strong or flexible to enjoy this accessible offering, but a general good bill of health free from movement restrictions is a must when beginning any movement practice. Please consult your physician to determine if this is an appropriate wellness lifestyle practice for you.

This is a come as you are studio space. No experience or fancy pants necessary. Dress comfortably for ease of movement and bring a closed water bottle. Bring a yoga mat if you have one, borrow ours if you don’t. Parking and entry are in the back, follow the Renkon flags.

Sound Meditation

Our Sound Meditation practice facilitated by Barb will bathe you with the soothing, pure sounds of crystal and hand-hammered singing bowls for a restorative and accessible meditation experience.

After settling into a supported seated or lying position, Barb will guide your breath as you receive this deeply relaxing experience. At the conclusion of the sound meditation, Barb will gently bring your awareness back to your surroundings with an ocean drum and grounding chimes.

Following sound meditation, most participants report significantly less tension, anger, fatigue, anxiety and/or depression along with an increased sense of well-being and ease. Benefits include relaxation, stress relief, peak mental alertness and focus, insomnia relief and mood elevation.

Sound meditation is especially useful for those who are new to (or less practiced in) meditation as the vibrational tones do the heavy lifting without a great deal of discipline to experience the benefits. The instrumental sounds usher the frequency of your brainwaves into a state of deep relaxation and healing.

Barb is a Vibrational Sound Licensed Practitioner skilled at using the structured modality for sound-based group meditation. She also offers individual sound treatments (send us an e-mail to schedule yours!).

This class is a part of our regular class schedule and bundles and memberships can be applied.

Be Well Yoga

Join studio owner Sarah for a playful revival of body, mind and spirit – an intentional act of starting where you are and showing up on behalf of living your best life. Yes, even on a Monday morning!

This yoga practice is designed to enrich your capacity for a more fully embodied and present lifestyle through guided breath, meditation, and movement practices that cultivate a sense of light-hearted equanimity and grounded well-being.
